I used Picnik to edit this picture of a koala that I found on flickr. I really like koalas and although they have not been classified as endangered, I've utilised this image to emphasise that they are under threat particularly in my local area. I think using tools such as Picnik for editing images is a great way to promote a personalised message or to evoke emotion. It can serve many purposes and it is a very powerful tool to facilitate many examples of meaningful learning. It can allow students to use images creatively by editing the images to enhance their appearance or incorporate text, express their emotions and portray perspectives or opinions visually. It can also involve many aspects of reflection as I did through the above image. Aren't koalas beautiful and wouldn't it be a shame if they disappeared from our local area? This is essentially the message that I'm portraying in my image.
