I've just read about situated cognition and it activated my 'prior knowledge' on constructivism. I am now getting why we are doing these activities and it is very much situated learning. The theory is centred around the idea of being emmersed in an authentic learning environment that is closely aligned to the context that will be used in the real world. Through doing the PMI for the learning theories in the wiki was important because I was seeing firsthand how to firstly use the tool effectively, scaffold the learning while seeing how it promotes collaboration. Essentially it was an opportunity to explore the theories and collate the concepts and perspectives surrounding them and share the knowledge gained. The use of a wiki is very useful as it allows others to update or add further information regarding the specific topic. It really provided me with greater clarity and multiple perspectives of the theories as well as giving me ideas about how I could adapt such a task within the classroom.
